Blue Monday? Not here
Posted on January 13 2022
The third Monday in January is supposedly known as Blue Monday and is said to be the most depressing day of the year...but, it's important to know that it is just a myth and there is actually no such thing.
With the aftermath of Christmas, the cold weather, long dark nights (and is it just us with failed New Years resolutions already?) its normal to feel a little down, today or any other day. So we have compiled our 3 top tips that help keep us going on the difficult days:
Get out and about - when it's miserable outside the last thing you'll want to do is leave the house. But, wrapping up warmly and going for a countryside walk is a great idea - the fresh air and vitamin D will do wonders for you.
Rest up! It's okay to not want to plan too much and you're likely to be feeling quite tired and run down after the festivities and then being back at work. Listen to your body and rest if you need to or take some time to do the things you enjoy - watch films, read books and any other hobbies you have.
Talk - while we all have good days and bad days, if you are struggling in any way then you should always chat to someone about it - after all, a problem shared is a problem halved.
If you know someone that is feeling particularly down, why not send them a small token gift to show them that you care. A cosy jumper to wear during those cold evenings at home, a personalised mug that they can enjoy their favourite hot drink in or maybe a bookmark to keep the page of the latest book they are reading.
And of course, remind them that many positive things happened last year and to look forward to all of the positive things that are going to happen this year!
